Creve Coeur is a city that truly has something to offer everyone. While its beginnings can be traced to a small farming community, Creve Coeur′s current population now encompasses over sixteen thousand people spread over more than eleven square miles. The city′s current size and relatively cosmopolitan flavor can be traced directly to the mid–20th century explosion of private automobile ownership and the highway improvements that accompanied that change.

Returning servicemen in the early 1950s wanted to raise their new families in nice homes with large yards and a spot for their new cars. Creve Coeur provided the perfect place for them to call home. Today that still ongoing development has resulted in a town that contains two public school districts, a dozen private schools (including two colleges), and over seven thousand homes.

Seven beautiful parks can be found here, including such amenities as walking trails, sports fields, and barbecue facilities. The city maintains four historic buildings (the Lake School, the Clester Cabin, the Hackmann Log Cabin, and the Tappmeyer House) for the benefit of its residents and visitors. Each provides for an interesting and educational experience. Creve Coeur residents enjoy the area′s generally moderate climate year round. Mean annual temperatures vary between extremes of 20 and 90.
