About Affton, MO - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

Affton′s earliest history dates to the very beginning of the nineteenth century and the Louisiana Purchase. Large tracts of land in the area had been granted many of the earliest settlers by the Spanish king. Those first settlers began a process of subdividing and selling their acreage. One of these large tracts of land was purchased in the 1850s by St. Louis banker Louis Auguste Benoist. He created a hugh plantation on nearly five hundred acres and commissioned a mansion to be designed and built by famed architect George Ingham Barnett. That mansion, known as Oakland House, is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is a treasured showpiece of the Affton community.

Future President of the United States Ulysses S. Grant was given an 80 acre parcel by his father-in-law in 1848 and built himself a cabin there which remains a treasured local attraction. Over time, this area became known for its truck gardens and farmer′s markets. The modern town of Affton owes its name to Johann Aff, the postmaster and general store proprietor of the late nineteenth century. In more recent years, one of Affton′s claims to fame is being the hometown of actor John Goodman, who was born and raised here. Affton′s average daily temperature varies throughout the year between 20 and 90 degrees.
